Pollen and Other Things of Spring

Well, it is that time of year. The pollen is out! The past two weeks was the worst of it. Thankfully, we have had some rainy days that wash away the pollen build up.

This is a picture that Olivia took. We absolutely despise the pollen. I am allergic, but even non-allergic people are somewhat bothered by it!

Emma Jean has been the biggest mess!

Of course, spring comes with the flowers. We have never had so many different kinds bloom at the same time. It is magical in our yard. I will post some pictures of our Azaleas soon.

Have a great weekend!

Vintage Style Photos

Hey everyone! I hope y'alls week is going well! Over at Ramblings and Photos, Ashley along with Sarah are doing this really sweet thing called Tutorial Tuesday where they post a tutorial (On Tuesday;) and then we all have a week to post some pictures where we followed the tutorial! This is so cool! To all the non-photoshop people out there, sorry! It is one of my passions!:) Also, I am using PSE, so some of the steps are slightly different. Without further ado,  here are my pictures!

That picture was taken at Colonial Williamsburg this past October. Williamsburg is one of my favorite places to go and there are so many things to take pictures of!

I love this picture. It was taken at the Elizabethean Gardens, Manteo, NC. I also have a black and white version that I really like, but the vintage gives it a whole new look.

These pictures were taken in the small coastal town of Avon, NC. It was a really bad day to take pictures, overcast and windy, but I managed to make some work.

And this beauty is my favorite. I really wanted to go into this Barnes and Noble! We were on our Civil War Tour and I couldn't leave the group (This is at Baltimore, MD). Maybe one day I can go back!

So there you have it! Let me know what you think and come back soon!

New Perspectives

What is a new perspective? A perspective is, "a particular attitude toward or way of regarding something; a point of view." Everyone has a perspective. Your perspective is based upon your world view. A secular humanist will view the world differently than a Buddhist or naturalist would. As Christians, we should view the world a certain way. 2 Corinthians 5:17 says, "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new." What does this mean? Well, this means that our view, or perspective, of the world changes when we are saved. We see everything around us differently. A tree is no longer just a plant. It is now a gift given to us for our enjoyment and use. We see that we need to protect what God has given us and use it in the ways that He designed it for. God is good, and He has blessed us with every good thing. We are to view the world from a Biblical view point. Everything we see and think must be done through the Biblical glasses. When we are saved, we begin looking through a filter that changes the way we see everything. Evaluate the way that you view trials, pain, politics, beauty, the world and other controversial topics. Do you need a new perspective?

My Wilton Cake Decorating Class Experience.....

Hello everyone! During the month of February, I took the Basic Wilton Cake Decorating class at our local Michael's. My friends Ashley and Brittany took it with me and let me tell you, we had a blast! I was pretty nervous (By nature I am really shy) but our instructor Mrs. Penny put me right to ease. She informed us immediately that she home schooled as well and so she knew all about that and not to be worried. :) Anyway, we had a great time and I would highly recommend it to anyone that would like to learn more about this subject.

As you can see, I haven't had time to edit the pictures and that my work is far from perfect. In a way, cake decorating helps me with my perfectionism. At some point, you have to stop smoothing out the icing!
